On Tuesday, April 15, 2008, His Eminence Archbishop Mousheg Mardirossian, Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, hosted the officers and the directors of the Lebanese American Foundation for the House of Lebanon.
The reception took place at the new Western Prelacy Headquarters in La Crescenta, California, and was attended by the Consul General of Lebanon, The Honorable Fadi Hajali.
His Eminence gave the group a tour of the new facility and explained that the Western Prelacy operates under the auspices of His Holiness Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House of Celica, located in Antelias, Lebanon.
His Eminence reiterated that a large number of the community members hail from Lebanon, a country which welcomed the Armenian people when they were uprooted from their ancestral homeland and which has since become a second home for many. As a result, the Armenians of Lebanon experience a strong association with their adopted homeland and are proud to identify themselves as Lebanese-Armenians.
Dr. Hanna Shammas, Chairman of the Lebanese American Foundation, thanked His Eminence for his hospitality and for the opportunity to get re-acquainted and to re-affirm the relationship with the Lebanese-Armenian community in Los Angeles. He explained that the House of Lebanon’s mission is to unite all American-Lebanese and to establish a cultural center in Los Angeles. The directors are very proud of the Lebanese-Armenians members and look forward to continued collaboration in the days and years to come.
