House of Lebanon Dabke Folk Dance Classes
Presented by the HOL Artists' Group
The House of Lebanon invites you to register for Dabke Classes.
Dabke dancing is absolutely great exercise in addition to being too much fun! Dabke is a traditional dance of the Levantine region, which is growing in popularity worldwide. In this class you will learn the basics of Dabke; the rhythms, the stomping, the turns and jumps and especially the unity of movement that make Dabke the exciting dance it is.
Stephanie Sullivan was already a professional dancer and teacher when she began studying Middle Eastern dance over ten years ago. She has since studied dabke in Lebanon from some of the great principal dancers and choreographers of the renowned "Caracalla Dance Co." She was recently asked by "Amani" from Lebanon to come with her company and dance for her festival this year.
She is the founder of Ya M.E.L.A. Dance Company and now shares directorship with Marcos Ferrando, a fabulous Dabke dancer and choreographer in his own right from Los Angeles.
